Getting To / From Beijing Capital Airport

Beijing Capital Airport (北京首都机场 – Bĕijīng Shǒudū Jīchăng) is the main international airport serving the city of Beijing. The airport is located about 20km Northeast of the city, connected by the airport freeway. Currently the best way to get there is by taxi or by the excellent airport bus, but Olympic plans include a rail connection. Watch this space for developments.

From Beijing to Capital Airport by Taxi

After immigration you come out into the arrivals hall, where you will probably be approached and offered a taxi. Ignore these people, who will overcharge you, and proceed to the taxi rank which is just outside. A taxi to the city centre usually takes just under an hour, and costs 150-250RMB. The driver should legally use the meter. If they don’t tell them to. If you arrive or depart very early in the morning or late at night, drivers are particularly reluctant to use the meter, if you end up having to agree a price, make sure it’s clear you’re talking about RMB!

From Beijing to Capital Airport by Bus

A cheaper alternative is the Airport Bus, which is cheap, quick and comfortable. There are five different routes. These details are subject to change. Check this page again before you leave for up to date information.

There are six Airport Bus routes, but only five run to Capital Airport, no.6 connects Xidan with Nanyuan Airport which is located about 15km South of the city and handles mainly internal
flights.
