Beijing flights – how to get to the capital of the Middle Kingdom
You can fly to Beijing Capital Airport from virtually any major city in the world. The airport is one of Asia’s busiest and handled more than 30 million passengers in 2005.
A new terminal is due to be completed in 2007 in time for the Olympics. Beijing Capital Airport is the hub of Air China, the flag carrier of the PRC, who fly to most major international airports.
Book your flights as early as possible. From Western Europe, any indirect return flight below 450GBP (650 Euros) is quite reasonable. Tickets below 400GBP (570 Euros) are very rare. From East Coast USA, expect to pay around $1300 with some seasonal variation.
Europe – Beijing Flights
Europe is very well connected to China. BA, Air China, Air France, Lufthansa, KLM, SAS, Austrian Airlines, and Finnair all operate direct flights to Beijing.
Alitalia, China Eastern Airlines, Lufthansa, KLM, BA, Air France, SAS, Air China and Finnair operate direct flights from Europe to Shanghai.
Air France, KLM, Swiss International Airlines, Virgin, Lufthansa, BA, Qantas and Cathay Pacific all fly direct from Europe to Hong Kong.
Lufthansa, Finnair and Air France fly direct to Guangzhou (Canton) in Southern China.
KLM operate direct flights from Amsterdam to Chengdu in Sichuan province in Western China.
For those wishing to save money, an indirect flight can often be a cheaper option. Emirates, Turkish Airlines and Aeroflot are competitive on price.
North America – Beijing Flights
In North America, Air China, United, Continental, American Airlines, Northwest all fly direct from several airports throughout the US to Beijing. The same airlines also all fly direct to Shanghai on China’s Eastern seaboard.
Cathay Pacific, Continental, United, Northwest, and American Airlines fly direct to Hong Kong from North American destinations.
Northwest fly direct to Guangzhou in Southern China.
Air Canada fly direct to Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong from Vancouver and Toronto. Air China fly direct from Vancouver to Beijing.
Australasia – Beijing Flights
Air China and Qantas fly direct to Beijing from various Australian airports. China Eastern Airlines and Qantas fly to Shanghai from Australia, and Qantas and Cathay Pacific fly to Hong Kong.
Air New Zealand fly direct from Auckland to Shanghai and Hong Kong
